Museum Admissions

By purchasing a ticket for admission to Bow Street Police Museum you enter into an agreement subject to the ‘Terms and Conditions’ outlined here.

Prices

The price of your ‘Museum Admission’ will be clearly shown on the website at the time you place your order. Prices are in UK Sterling and inclusive of any applicable taxes and surcharges.

Ticket types

Unless otherwise stated the following definitions apply to Bow Street Police Museum admission tickets;

  • General Admission – applies to anyone over the age of 12 years not eligible for a reduced entry price under any other ticket type.
  • Concession – applies to former or serving Metropolitan Police officers, senior citizens, and students. Presentation of valid ID for proof of eligibility will be required on arrival at the Museum if asked.
  • Local Residents – applies to anyone over the age of 12 years resident in the London boroughs of Camden, City of London or City of Westminster. Proof of address will be required on arrival at the Museum if asked.
  • Under 12’s – applies to anyone under the age of 12 years.
  • Carers – applies to anyone accompanying or supporting the needs of another visitor with a disability.
  • Friends Membership – applies to anyone with a valid membership of the Bow Street Police Museum ‘Friends Membership Scheme’. Proof of membership is required when purchasing tickets online, and on arrival at the Museum if asked.
  • National Art Pass: applies to anyone with a valid National Art Pass membership. Proof of membership (card or email confirmation) is required on arrival at the Museum.
  • Tour Guides: applies to Blue Badge or accredited guides. Proof of accreditation will be required on arrival at the Museum if asked.
  • Group admission: applies to anyone over the age of 12 years, visiting as part of an organised groups or tour.

Payments online

To purchase an admission ticket, it is necessary for Bow Street Police Museum to collect personal data and process this in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Gift-Aid

If you are a UK tax payer and you have chosen to donate an additional £1 to your ticket price, Bow Street Police Museum can claim back extra money from the UK government via Gift-Aid.

By ticking the Gift-Aid declaration box when purchasing your tickets, you confirm you agree to the following statement;

“I confirm that I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference. I understand the charity will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.”

Ticket collection

Once full payment has been made, you will receive your purchased admission tickets via an email confirmation using the contact details provided during the online payment process.

This email and the included tickets constitute proof of purchase. Please check you have received this email following your purchase. Bow Street Police Museum take no responsibility for the loss of this email due to reasons outside of our control.

This confirmation email must be presented to staff on arrival in order to gain admission to Bow Street Police Museum.

Latecomers

All admission tickets are subject to timed entry. Please check your allocated entry time on your tickets before arriving at the Museum. 

If you miss your chosen time slot for any reason, we cannot guarantee entry to the Museum. Staff will try to allocate you the next available time slot. However, at busy times it may not be possible to find a time on the same day.

Cancellations

Whilst rare, circumstances may arise when Bow Street Police Museum has to cancel your ticket.

If Bow Street Police Museum needs to cancel your ticket;

  • We will make every reasonable effort to contact you via the details you provided during the online payment process.
  • If appropriate, we will provide the option to exchange your ticket for an alternative date or time. If an alternative date or time cannot be arranged, we will refund the total amount paid by you for the ticket at the time of purchasing – unless your tickets were part of a Gift-Aid declaration.
  • In line with guidance from HMRC, if you made a Gift-Aid declaration when purchasing your ticket, it will not be possible for Bow Street Police Museum to issue a refund for the price of your ticket. In such circumstances we will always look to exchange your ticket for an alternative date or time.
  • We cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred by you such as travel, accommodation or any other related service arranged by you in anticipation of your visit.

Refunds

If for any reason you are unable to visit the Museum on the date or time specified on your tickets, it may be possible to arrange an exchange for an alternative date or time. However, at busy times alternative tickets may not be available. 

If an alternative date or time is not available, Bow Street Police Museum operates a no refund policy for admission tickets. 

Liability

The maximum liability to you under these ‘Terms and Conditions’ is the total amount you paid for your ticket.

Conditions of entry

  • All visitors to Bow Street Police Museum must purchase a valid admission ticket. Tickets are non-transferable, and must not be sold or passed on to any third party.
  • Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Admission to Bow Street Police Museum is at your own risk. Bow Street Police Museum shall have no liability for any loss, damage or injury to person or property howsoever caused.
  • Visitors must observe all laws, byelaws, health and safety requirements, polices and announcements as directed by Bow Street Police Museum staff.
  • If you do not follow any directions given by Bow Street Police Museum staff, or cause damage, nuisance or injury to others whilst visiting Bow Street Police Museum, you may be asked to leave or accompanied off the premises.
  • Photography is permitted for personal use only. No professional audio or video recording can take place at Bow Street Police Museum without prior written agreement.
  • No food or drink, with the exception of water or for the purposes of administering prescribed medication, can be consumed at Bow Street Police Museum.
  • Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is prohibited at all times.
  • You must not bring any kind of weapon, real or artificial, to Bow Street Police Museum.
  • You will be refused entry to Bow Street Police Museum if you appear to be under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances.

Friends Membership Scheme

By purchasing a ‘Friends Membership’ to Bow Street Police Museum you enter into an agreement subject to the ‘Terms and Conditions’ outlined here.

Prices

The price of your ‘Friends Membership’ will be clearly shown on the website at the time you place your order. Prices are in UK Sterling and inclusive of any applicable taxes and surcharges.

Membership

A ‘Friends Membership’ is not transferable to any other person.

Each person to join the ‘Friends Membership Scheme’ will receive a unique membership number. This number must only be used by the named holder of that membership.

Unless otherwise stated the following applies to anyone who holds a ‘Friends Membership’ at Bow Street Police Museum;

  • Free general admission to the Museum at any time during public opening hours (Friday – Sunday, 11:00 –16:30). Proof of membership required when purchasing tickets online, and on arrival at the Museum if asked.
  • Retail discount. A 10% discount on all purchases from the Bow Street Police Museum shop. Proof of membership required when making a purchase.
  • Events discount. A 10% discount on all events hosted by the Museum. Proof of membership required when purchasing tickets online, and on arrival at the Museum if asked.
  • Priority booking. Early access to tickets will be made available for selected events. Proof of membership required when purchasing tickets online, and on arrival at the Museum if asked. 
  • Exclusive Newsletters. Communications via email including exclusive offers, information about special events, and articles exploring relevant topics and themes.

All Membership benefits are subject to availability and change.

Membership delivery

Once full payment has been made, you will receive confirmation of your ‘Friends Membership’ via an email using the contact details provided during the online payment process.

This email constitutes proof of purchase. Please check you have received this email following your purchase. Bow Street Police Museum take no responsibility for the loss of this email due to reasons outside of our control.

Following your confirmation email a further communication will be sent that includes fuller details of your ‘Friends Membership’, including your unique membership number.

If you misplace, lose or forget your Membership details please visit Bow Street Police Museum with a form of ID, and a member of staff will be able to re-issue your details to you.

Refunds

The Bow Street Police Museum ‘Friends Membership Scheme’ is non-refundable.
